Recovery Time Frames

It is very important to understand the the time frames associated with professional data recovery in order to manage your expectations.

Most of the general public do not have background in computer science and therefore do not understand the efforts and time that is required for this task. It is essential to understand that data recovery is not a shelf item. In most of the cases we will need at least a day to research the faulty drive in order to draw the conclusion, then we proceed. Every drive is a different story and can have a different fault.

1. Standard Problems – most data recovery tasks take 1-5 days. These are cases without physical damage to the drive.
2. Bad Sectors Image – recovery time for drives with bad sectors depends on drive capacity, required data size and number of bad sectors on the drive. A good case is 1-2 days, but a bad case is 3-30 days.
3. Damaged Flash Devices – these are one of the most difficult cases, at stage 1, they require a search and purchase of suitable donor drives, which is usually from overseas, at stage 2 replacement of electronic components,  at stage 3 creating an image from the fixed flash device, and last stage 4 reconstructing the data from the healthy image. 2-6 weeks in total.
4. Damaged Heads/Motor – these are the most difficult cases, at stage 1, they require a search and purchase of suitable donor drives, which is usually from overseas, at stage 2 replacement of parts in a clean room, at stage 3 creating an image from the unstable heads, and last stage 4 reconstructing the data from the healthy image. 2-6 weeks in total.
